Folgate Underwriting Agency Limited (FUAL) has appointed Paul Freeman as Chief Underwriting Officer – Professional Indemnity to lead FUAL’s Professional Indemnity team and head up its new Financial Advisers & Mortgage Brokers product, marking a significant step in the firm’s continued growth and expansion strategy.
Freeman brings more than three decades of Professional Indemnity (PI) experience across both claims and underwriting, including a tenure as Chair of the Professional Indemnity Forum (PIF). He joins FUAL from Liberty Specialty Markets, where he spent 17 years within the PI team. Having established the primary IFA and Mortgage Broker book in 2009, he most recently served as PI Underwriting Manager – SME & Mid-Market where he oversaw the growth and development of the underwriting team within the London, Bristol and Manchester offices. His remit covered not only financial adviser risks but also a full spectrum of traditional professions.
His appointment brings extensive sector expertise and strong broker relationships to FUAL, and he will be crucial in building and developing not only our new Financial Advisers and Mortgage Brokers proposition but also continuing to develop our wider professional indemnity offering following Mathew Harvey and Debbie Farmer’s appointments at the end of 2025.
