Folgate Launch Cambridge Business Development Branch

Over the past ten years or so our Business Development Managers (BDMs) have spent many hours on the road travelling to visit our supporting brokers. Like most businesses, Covid-19 has made us re-evaluate the way in which we operate, and we are pleased to advise that we have created a new Business Development Centre in Cambridge.

The creation of the Business Development Centre will enable our team, led by our new Head of Business Development Paul Craig, to offer additional support to our valued brokers. Spending countless hours on the road has meant that quite often our BDMs were unable to give you the support you deserve, and this will now change.

We have already strengthened the new office with two new Business Account Managers (BAMs), Sean McCormack and Madeline Washington. Some of you, will no doubt, have already had help from Sean and Madeline. They will ensure our brokers have more support from Folgate including:

  • Being a regular contact for all of your needs including product updates
  • Assisting you with help on premium, terms and better service for new business enquiries
  • Liaising with underwriters on your behalf to save you time
  • Strengthening your relationship
  • Working with you towards Development Broker Status

Please rest assured that face-to-face visits will still be a priority for us where required. We have all gained experience in online meetings which sometimes are a preference for brokers than face to face meetings, especially while Covid-19 is still a presence.

We are currently in the process of distributing our valued brokers to the most suited new team members as we continue our expansion, details of which will be sent to you individually within the next few weeks.

Paul Craig, Head of Business Development said “Having recently been promoted to Head of Business Development, it was on the top of my list to review how we interact with brokers following the pandemic and I am delighted to open the new office and be able to lead the new team through this changing market.  Having now strengthened the team, I will ensure that no stone is left unturned, and I am excited to see the new team grow. I would like to offer our warmest welcome to Sean and Madeline”.

Ian Russell, Chief Underwriting Officer said “It was quite apparent that the world has changed following Covid-19 and I am delighted with the new Cambridge office opening, and indeed the additional resources we can now give to brokers. Face to face meetings will always be a part of what we do but the new structure will give our brokers a lot more support, I am looking forward to seeing the new office grow”.
