Our Chief Underwriting Officer, Ian Russell is celebrating an incredible milestone of 25 years of working at Folgate. Find out what Ian’s average day looks like and what he enjoys most about the company.
Current position and what you do?
I am the Chief Underwriting Officer. Day-to-day, I am responsible for running the Underwriting and Product Development side of the business as well as our Re-Insurance placements. This includes overseeing binding authorities, line slips and schemes. Oh, and every now and again I love to get back onto the Underwriting desk and speak to our supporting brokers, some of which I have known since I started. Until I retire my pen will never run dry.

What do you like most about your job?
My passion is helping cover holders with binding authorities. Coming from an MGA background into a direct insurer, I know lots of the issues that cover holders face and hopefully I am seen as a breath of fresh air with ideas to help books of business, particularly ones that need some TLC.
Random fact about yourself.
I was in the Essex Ski slalom team when I was younger.
