Summary of your job
As the head of SME, I am responsible for looking after my team of 5 exceptional underwriters who support me on a day to day basis.
I work very closely with our product development team to create and manage new binding authorities and continuously monitor the overall performance of our SME products ensuring they are upgraded for the benefit of our customers. We are actively seeking and already have new binding authorities in the pipeline which will keep me very busy this year!
How do you interact with brokers?
I’m a big believer of having face to face meetings with our brokers as well as forging relationships over the phone or email. On some occasions I might even get the chance to enjoy a bite to eat and cheeky drink or two in the process. Many of the brokers I deal with have been big supporters since the Company was formed and they love our approach to underwriting as well as the service we provide.
What do you do throughout the day?
My day to day role consists of many different functions and varies daily. I am not shy in mucking in with the team, from making a cupper to getting on the phones and generating new business from our online system or email presentations. I am very big on reports but won’t bore you with that.
New schemes and binders are of particular interest to me and will be sourcing new opportunities over the coming months.
What do you like about your job?
I have been with the Company for 25 years next April and I am lucky enough to not only love my job but love the people I work with, many of whom have been working with me for over 10 years.
