Paul Rabey – Head of Claims
Summary of job:
As the Head of the claims department, I am responsible for managing my team of 3 members who help me provide a service to our policyholders, brokers and coverholders on a daily basis. As well as managing my internal team I also interact with brokers, lawyers, loss adjusters and key clients. Within the claims department, we strive to ensure that our brokers and policyholders receive a quick, efficient claims service.
Time spent at the company:
I joined Folgate in June 2016 as a claims handler and within 18 months was promoted to Senior Claims Adjuster. Within the last 3 months I have since been promoted to Claims Manager and am fully enjoying my new role within a fast moving, exciting company. I feel I have developed my claims experience within Folgate Insurance due to my gradual progression and am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to learn in the future.
How did you get into the industry?
I first started within the insurance sector when I was 16. I left school, skipped college and took on a role as an administrator. At 18, while my friends were going to university, I took on my first claims role in the city as a Claims Administrator. Within a year, I was working as a Claims Adjuster and have not looked back since.
What do you like most about your job?
I like the variety of claims we receive and enjoy expanding my knowledge and understanding of claims and policy coverage within the Liability, Property and Professional Indemnity business lines and the variety of challenges they bring. Also, the fact that I have a hardworking team and supportive colleagues who are always on hand to assist really helps to ensure we provide the best service possible.
